Starfield is setting itself up to be the biggest game of all time from the incredible voice cast of main characters to the different editions that you can get a hold of to show off your love for the game and for Bethesda as a whole. One of the questions that fans have been having since its announcement was whether or not Starfield would have ultrawide monitor support. Let’s break down the subject.

It is known that Bethesda has a reputation for not launching their games with ultrawide support. As of right now, it is not known if that is the case for Starfield, especially since it is also going to be utilizing the Creation Engine as have games like Fallout 76 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. However, if you go into the latter games’s .ini files, you can set the resolution to 3440×1440 in order to invoke ultrawide settings when on launch. It isn’t known as of right now whether or not that’s going to be the case with Starfield, but it’s definitely been the case with previous games released by the developer.

Hopefully, Starfield will launch with this option to avoid players saying anything about the lack of this setting, but it’s also very possible that this will either be patched in at a later time, or players will need to go directly into the .ini files to change the resolution of the game, or players will need to wait until someone within the community comes up with a mod that can be used to create this patch in the meantime.

What Is Ultrawide Monitor Support?

It’s a little bit self-explanatory considering the name, but if you are unfamiliar with ultrawide monitor support, it is when a game supports the use of monitors that are not of the traditional size. Some monitors are much wider than your average monitor, meaning that without this support, games will look incredibly stretched in their experiences. With this support, players will be able to not only enjoy the game as everyone else does, but they will also have the advantage of seeing a little bit more than their peers can on-screen because of the monitor that they choose to use.
