If you’re a fan of the famed Diablo 2, then chances are you remember the Secret Cow Level. It was quite literally a level of killer Hell Bovines, all armed with Halberds mooing in a monotone voice. The same level was brought back when Diablo 3 came out, and fans were just as excited to find it again. However, it seems that the level makes its return in the latest Diablo 4. Some evidence points to its existence, so we wrote out a Diablo 4 Secret Cow Level guide to help you find it!
Can You Find The Secret Cow Level In Diablo 4?
Rod Fergusson, the general manager for Diablo 4, had stated once that since the game was meant to be grounded in darker themes, having a Secret Cow Level would throw off that balance and vibe. However, now we know that he was only trying to throw us off track. To get access to this secret level, you must do the following:
- Go to the fountain in Ken Bardu.
- Interact with the Oxen God of the East statue and read the pop-up message.
- Find the interactable tablet within the waters of the fountain and read the pop-up message.
- Locate the Bloody Wooden Shard in Kehjistan or Hawezar.
- Locate the Intricate Metallic Fragment in Dry Steppes.
- Locate the Must Tome in Scosglen or Fractured Peaks.
- Drop all three items into the Bardu fountain and pick them back up to cleanse them.
- Offer each relic to the now interactable Oxen God of the West, North, and South.
- Pick up the Strange Key item.
- Use the Strange Key to access the Forlorn Hovel at the eastern end of Socsglen.
Once inside the Forlorn Hovel, you’ll come across many cows that are staring at some deceased villagers. You can kill them all to receive a Stamina Potion, which was something that the Cow King dropped in Diablo 2 after defeating him. Now, clearly, there is more to this secret that we have yet to discover, so keep your eyes peeled here for more information as we discover it.
What Is The Evidence Of The Secret Cow Level?
The biggest pieces of evidence that point to the level’s possible existence in the future are two items featured in Diablo 4. The Bloody Wooden Shard item has a W carved into it, symbolizing Wirt’s Leg from Diablo 2. Then there’s the Musty Tome item that symbolizes the Tome of Town Portal, also from Diablo 2. When these two items were combined in the Horadric Cube, which is now the Intricate Metallic Fragment, you would get access to the Secret Cow Level.
