Doodle Derby
This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information.

A month and a half ago, Headup Games published Studio Erikson’s 2D racing platforming game. Since the game’s release, things have mostly been silent. Sadly, the sandboxing chaos game never quite caught on despite its fun party games. So why am I bringing up Doodle Derby now rather than when the game originally released? The first reason is because of not knowing when the game released. Originally, when I was shown the game at PAX East 2019, it was going by the title Fromto. Since then, the game’s title has changed to be more appealing and memorable; Doodle Derby is definitely more memorable than Fromto.

Doodle Derby

By the time I finally found out the game had released, it had already been out for a week. Typically, I try not to cover older news unless it’s monumental. Given yesterday’s news though, I couldn’t resist. Yesterday, Studio Erikson released a new patch for Doodle Derby to celebrate Halloween! In this patch, new items have been added to add to Pumpkin Spice to your levels. Spider webs, Gravestones, Pumpkins, and a Fall tree have been added to the game.

Watch out because Spider Webs in Doodle Derby are sticky, very sticky! Gravestones can cause your car to become haunted. As for Pumpkins, you can Squash them, and who doesn’t like Smashing Pumpkins? Finally, a new tree type has been added. When you hit it leaves may fall. Additionally, blocks can be orange on different levels.

If you are looking for a fun four-person party game this Halloween and are sick of Among Us, I recommend checking out Doodle Derby or Heave Ho. If you still have an N64 as well, go with classic games like Mario Kart, Super Smash Brothers, or GoldenEye. Doodle Derby is available on Steam for $5.99. What games do you like to play at Halloween parties or to get you in the mood for Halloween? Call of Duty and Fortnite are currently running Halloween events to celebrate.
