HBO Max has been on fire lately when it comes to promise for upcoming shows. On top of all the documentaries, there are several highly-regarded films and shows like Joker and Spirited Away. One such show the platform has is Doom Patrol, a complex superhero series that fans are loving through the first two seasons. With that love in mind, HBO Max sees the potential of a long-running series. Doom Patrol has been renewed for a third season on the streaming platform. The news was announced officially through DC today, and you can find the full release here.
What is Doom Patrol?
Doom Patrol follows a group of outcast superheroes led by a mad scientist named Dr. Niles Caulder. These outcasts all suffered terrible things in the past, these events shaping who they are and giving them these powers. Following these events, the scientist gave them purpose in a world that doesn’t care about them anymore. That’s how the Doom Patrol was formed, fighting crime and working to save the world from a secret threat. This threat though is one that brings the team into a place they could’ve never expected.
The show is seen as incredibly interesting among fans, citing its “pure, strange magic” in its characters and setting. Head of HBO Max original content, Sarah Aubrey, believes in the project as well:
Doom Patrol came to HBO Max with an already deep and passionate fan base and has risen to the top as one of the most watched Max Originals on the platform. The series sits well in our portfolio and we are glad to greenlight a third season to continue this distinctive style of storytelling that resonates so well with critics and fans alike.”
