Warhammer Skulls showcase has lots of game updates. But one of the most exciting new games announced is Warhammer 40K Boltgun, a classic Doom-style FPS that’s due out in 2023.
Auroch Digital and Focus Entertainment’s new retro game puts you in the shoes of the ultimate killing machine, the Space Marine. As you travel across the galaxy, you will fight Chaos Space Marines and Chaos Daemons.
Retro-Shooter Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun
The Warhammer 40,000 series continues with a new, Doom-style, 90s-inspired first-person shooter called Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun. Warhammer 40k: Boltgun will allow you to become a Space Marine and wield the classic boltgun.
The game is made in the classic retro shooter style, down to sprite enemies and models. New Warhammer game seems to completely repeat the glory days of shooters of the 90s.
Auroch Digital said that players can take various actions to attack the Chaos Space Marines and Chaos Daemons. “Run, jump and charge across huge levels to shoot, shred and slice the worst heretics across the galaxy” developer added.
The trailer for the retro-style Warhammer 40,000 only includes short gameplay footage, but in the trailer, we see the titular boltgun, a melta gun, and also hear the revving of a chainsword.
Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun Release Date
The game will be released on all platforms, including PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, and even Nintendo Switch sometime in 2023. This way, you will be able to take part in bloody first-person shootouts almost anywhere you decide to play.
Auroch Digital has previously worked on a number of other games, including Mars Horizon and the upcoming Brewmaster: Beer Brewing Simulator. However, Warhammer 40K Boltgun is the studio’s first action first-person game.
The new Warhammer game will join a category featuring Dusk, Ion Fury and Amid Evil as part of the recent “boomer shooter” genre.
