A Florida homeowner was left confused and shocked when she reviewed footage from her home’s security camera, which appeared to show a DoorDash driver carelessly tossing a food order onto the ground in her driveway. Yes, delivery drivers have often been caught on camera doing the craziest things, including taking a person’s cat, being unsanitary by pouring spilled food back into containers, and of course the usual, dropping off packages and then taking them right after snapping a photo as proof of delivery.
Some have also been caught on camera throwing customers’ items on the ground as if they didn’t care whether it broke or spilled. However, this particular incident, recently shared on TikTok, seemed like it was personal. Based on the woman’s caption, her sister had ordered food from Panda Express and was waiting for it to be delivered by the DoorDash driver.
When the delivery driver eventually got to the house, driving a light-colored pickup truck, they reversed into the driveway instead of pulling up normally. Then, rather than walk up to the door to deliver it, the driver tossed the packaged food order, without a bag, onto the ground from their car window.
As soon as the food hit the ground, the packaging opened, spilling the contents. The driver did not pause to check the order, retrieve the fallen items, or attempt to fix the situation. Instead, the vehicle immediately pulled forward and drove away, leaving the food behind on the ground.
Netizens’ Theories on Why the Florida DoorDash Driver Acted the Way They Did
It is not clear why the driver chose to deliver the food in that manner, but some netizens believe that the customer may not have tipped. “Probably left no tip. Not an excuse but you set yourself up for it,” one person wrote in the comments section under the woman’s post. Another added, “People don’t want to pick up the food themselves and then also don’t want to tip. It’s crazy.”
However, others didn’t think that the behavior was warranted, whether the customer had tipped or not. One comment read, “Mad about a tip when he could’ve just declined the order or better yet went and got a better job, I’d see to it that he’s fired.” A second said, “This is why nobody tips anymore. Just do your [expletive] job.” A third remarked, “DoorDash hires the lowest of the low.”
