I’ll be among the first to admit that I love ordering food for delivery. There’s just something about having someone make your food and then having it brought to your door that’s so conveniently satisfying. However, for one Florida restaurant, a DoorDasher’s actions almost made them look very bad to the customer.
Fortunately, the owner of the restaurant reportedly decided to cancel the DoorDash order, remake the food, and then deliver it to the customer himself. This is just proof that if you order food through an app and it is taking a long time, it’s not always the restaurant’s fault.
The above video was posted to the TikTok account @cocosat40th, which is the official social media page for Coco’s, a restaurant in Tampa, Florida. The account has a little over 14,000 followers, and primarily focuses on the restaurant’s owners and the food that they serve. This time, however, things were a little bit different, as it focuses on an order someone placed with DoorDash.
According to the restaurant owner, an order had been made and prepared, but was waiting for nearly 30 minutes in their pickup area, despite having been claimed as picked up within the DoorDash app. Eventually, the alleged DoorDash driver came up and explained that she was there to pick up the food, which, by now, had gone cold.
The restaurant owner decided in that moment to press the driver about why she decided to wait half an hour to pick up the food, as it would make the restaurant look bad on the customer’s end. Eventually, he decided not to give the driver the food, cancel the order via DoorDash, remake everything that was ordered, and then deliver it to the customer himself. Now that’s customer service.
Florida Restaurant Owner Remakes and Delivers Food After DoorDasher Comes Late
Commenters were quick to be on the restaurant’s side, with one person even saying, “If the owner of the restaurant showed up at my door with my food I would delete DoorDash and spend my money there instead.” Others felt like this should be the standard in food sevice, with one comment reading, “THAT is great customer service.”
One comment in particular truly sums up how both I and likely everyone watching the video felt afterwards, saying, “Mad respect for this. 100%.” I’m sure more people are going to call the restaurant itself instead of DoorDash the next time their order goes awry, just because of this video.
