This article is over 1 years old and may contain outdated information.

While Dragon’s Dogma 2 players are (still) waiting for an official confirmation of the expansion DLC, the franchise’s fanbase has come to the rescue. As it turns out, the Dragon’s Dogma Online MMORPG spin-off fan revival is now fully playable through the magic of reverse engineering and private servers.

Originally launched in August 2015, the online spinoff to the beloved fantasy action RPG offered both Pawns as companions and a full-fledged multiplayer co-op feature. A maximum of four Arisens can play together outside of the 8-player Grand Mission; each can bring a Pawn to tag along during quests. Although only released in Japan, it was available for PS3, PS4, and PC with crossplay.

Aside from the familiar Vocations, there are unique classes as well such as the Shield Sage, Spirit Lancer, and High Scepter. It also came with high-profile crossover events including Persona 5, Attack on Titan, and Monster Hunter. Capcom shut down the official servers in December 2019, but fans’ deep love for the series has given Dragon’s Dogma Online a surprising revival.

The project was publicly announced in early 2023, and by November 2024, the main questlines were finally fully restored and playable. If you’re interested to try out the Dragon’s Dogma Online revival private server, thankfully, the setup process is surprisingly straightforward:

  • Download the 36GB game files on your PC.
  • The game launcher.
  • An English translation patch from the original Japanese version.
  • The optional controller icon packs for Xbox or PlayStation buttons.

Afterward, you can easily connect to the Dragon’s Dogma Online community’s private server. In case you want to host your own though, they also offer various server management tools.

The return of Dragon’s Dogma Online couldn’t have come at a better time for fans of the franchise. Dragon’s Dogma 2, the long-awaited sequel, launched to critical acclaim but has left players yearning for more. Unlike its predecessor, the new title hasn’t received DLC expansions or significant post-launch updates.

While Capcom has remained silent on future plans, dataminers uncovered files labeled ‘Extra Content,’ hinting at a potential boss rush mode. There’s also a leftover multiplayer expansion files tagged as ‘Tower of the New Moon.’ Not to mention that series creator Hideaki Itsuno departed Capcom for Tencent’s LightSpeed Studios in August.

In the meantime, though, the Dragon’s Dogma Online revival private server should provide relief for longtime fans who have been itching for jolly cooperation. For more information on download links and installation tutorial, check out the DDON Discord and dd-on.com.
