Things are not looking good for Aubrey Graham. As the beginning of November takes off, NBA fans and social media users are slamming Drake for being “soft” regarding his beef with DeMar DeRozan. It all went down on November 2, 2024. While attending a Toronto Raptors game versus the Sacramento Kings, netizens couldn’t help but notice the tension between the pair.
It’s easy to think that their beef is purely over sports. However, that’s far from the truth. Even though DeMar did play for the Raptors from 2009 to 2018, Drake couldn’t care less about that. Drake’s hard feelings toward DeMar are fueled by the latter’s support of Kendrick Lamar and his chart-topping single, “Not Like Us.” The “Find Your Love” singer even threw shade DeRozan’s way during a court-side interview. “If you ever put a DeRozan banner up, I’ll go up there and pull it down myself,” he said. And no, it doesn’t seem like his comments were much of a joke. A cameraman caught him talking more trash after the Raptors’ 131-128 overtime win against the Kings, too. “F*ck outta here, p*ssy,” Drake could be seen mouthing in DeRozan’s direction.
After the game, the press caught up with DeMar to discuss his performance and ask the NBA all-star about his thoughts on Drake’s comments. When presented with the Grammy winner’s statements about ripping his banner down, DeMar implied it’d be quite the challenge for the singer. “He’s gonna have a long way to climb to get it down,” he replied. “So, tell him ‘Good luck.'”
Fans Are Slamming Drake Over DeMar DeRozan ‘Disrespect’
In case you missed it, Drake’s beef with DeMar DeRozan is nothing new. The singer drew a line in the sand several months ago when he unfollowed the athlete on Instagram. First, the move seemed confusing. However, when fans reminded the world that DeRozan was seen singing “Not Like Us” at Kendrick’s concert, it all began to make sense. But you can’t forget that the Kings player isn’t the only NBA star Drake has unfollowed. He also cut ties with LeBron James, who has been a long supporter of his music.
When the news broke that Drake had taken their beef to social media, users lashed out at him, seemingly causing him to go into hiding. Now that they’ve seen the singer’s problematic behavior in person, everybody is going at him.
On X, formerly Twitter, one user went in on Drake, calling him a “soft ass b*tch” for shading DeRozan. “I’m gonna go run ‘Not Like Us’ on repeat.” Another user said they weren’t here for the DeMar “disrespect.” Other users called Drake out for “acting tough” only when his security is around. “Is this supposed to be intimidating?” they wrote with a laughing emoji.
Several other users shared their feelings and opinions online, calling the performer “embarrassing” for feeding into such low-vibrational drama.
What’s Going on With Drake and His NBA Friends?
Drake has been in his feelings since the summer of 2024.
In case you need a refresher, the rapper/singer was engaged in a rap battle with Kendrick Lamar. After releasing several tracks, the latter ended Drake with his single “Not Like Us.” On the record, Kendrick, also known as K-Dot, slung several allegations Drake’s way. One of the biggest lines of the song involved Kendrick calling Drake a pedophile.
Shortly after its release, the song became a smash hit. Everyone enjoyed the track, from normies to celebrities to big-name athletes. Later, Kendrick hosted a concert where he performed the single several times. He also brought out some of Drake’s (former) friends, like LeBron James and, of course, DeMar.
This caused Drake to cut ties (on Instagram) and wreak a bunch of havoc in the process.
It’s unclear if the “One Dance” performer will work it out with either of his old pals. However, based on recent behavior, it doesn’t seem likely. Even though many people have been jumping on Drake for his actions, one user did come to his defense.
“The funniest sh*t though is DeMar still thinking him and Drake would still be cool after dancing and appearing in a song calling Drake and his entire squad pedophiles.”
