At a wedding, it’s normal to spend the day showering everybody around you with love. Maybe even doing things that border on the line of ‘excessive’. At a wedding that took place in Michigan, the vibes coming from the wedding were certainly loving ones. And then things got weird. When a woman claimed that “God” himself showed up at her wedding, it had some of us wondering what she could possibly mean, and others cringing.
A woman shared her moving wedding experience on TikTok (@aveandcee) and the Internet is clearly divided on how to respond. In the video, we see the beautiful bride on the floor on her hands and knees, praying. Meanwhile, her husband lies beside her. But he isn’t just lying down to take a break from the wedding festivities—he looks like he’s no longer alive.
In a position I can only describe as the “Family Guy Death Pose,” the groom lays, unmoving. Around him, people scream affirmations and do peculiar dances in the background. It’s as if the spirit himself is moving through all of them.
The caption simply reads “POV: God showed up at your wedding.” Truthfully, I’m happy for the married couple but the theatrics of it are bizarre. After the video was shared on r/TikTokCringe, commenters responded exactly how you would expect them to over the wedding weirdness.
One commenter was evidently thinking what so many of us were and said, “Think the husband just wanted to take a nap,” while a reply to that comment said, “He is trying to get out, while the getting is good. He’s like their visual acuity is based on movement.” Another hilariously stated, “God showed up at your wedding… and killed your husband?”
Replies to the TikTok video itself were spot on, with people saying, “Lmao it gets to a point” and “don’t even invite me if ya’ll finna do allat hootin and hollin” (which personally has me rolling).
Let me be straight with you: I’m more than happy to see people share highlights of their happy wedding days on TikTok and anywhere else across social media. But when somebody starts making claims about the holy spirit himself moving through the room or someone starts speaking in tongues, I’m out.
