Aside from troubling rumors and a delay, Techland is putting a tight lip on Dying Light 2 release date and development. But in case you need a speck of hope, it seems one particular Czech retailer, XZone, has accidentally leaked the existence of Dying Light 2 Collector Edition.
As I’m writing this, though, the XZone online site is no longer putting up the Dying Light 2 Collector Edition for sale. Thankfully, keen-eyed Redditors and the AllGamesDelta Twitter account were able to take screenshots. Priced at 5,555 Czech koruna — or around $258 — as seen above, the Dying Light 2 Collector Edition will include:
- A copy of the game for PS4, Xbox One, or PC. There is no mention of the release date and PS5 or Xbox Series X versions.
- An art book.
- Steelbook case.
- Physical map of the game world, containing locations for secret items.
- A pack of UV stickers.
- UV flashlight.
- A limited figurine, showcasing the player character fighting a zombie.
- All wrapped up in a minimalistic-designed Collector’s Box.
Previously back in late last year, Techland has promised its fans via the official Discord server that they will provide more details in “the new year.” The post read:
We’ve been, er, dying to update you all on how development has been going. We’ll have fresh updates about Dying Light 2 coming in the new year!
However, nothing has come up since. First announced at E3 2018 during the Xbox press conference, the game was planned to be released in 2020. Later, Techland decided to push Dying Light 2 release window to allow additional development time, albeit not announcing a new release date.
Amid its scheduling problem, Techland terminated their relationship with one of its writers Chris Avellone due to sexual misconduct allegations. And this month, Dying Light 2 lead writer and art director Pawel Selinger abruptly left the company as well. Well, in any case, let’s hope the game eventually comes out without too many issues.
