Overkill’s The Walking Dead has had many troubles over the years. It was first announced back in 2014 with a planned release date for 2016. Since then, it’s been delayed twice. First to the second half of 2017 then it was delayed again for late 2018 release. Finally, we have received a definitive release date for Overkill’s The Walking Dead along with this sweet trailer from the PC Gaming Show at E3 2018.
In Overkill’s The Walking Dead you play as either Aiden, Maya, Grant, or Heather. Every character has unique skill-sets and play-styles.
Gameplay wise, this looks very similar to Valve’s Left 4 Dead (which is a great compliment). This isn’t really surprising though. Overkill and Valve have worked together in the past on a crossover for Payday: The Heist (another Overkill title) which featured the No Mercy hospital from the first Left 4 Dead game.
What seems to set this new title apart from Valve’s zombie slayer is the specific skill-trees and play-styles for all four of our survivors. Only time will tell if Overkill’s The Walking Dead is the next great zombie game or just another bland FPS.
If you pre-order this game on PC, you will receive an invite to the PC-exclusive closed beta. If you buy the deluxe edition, you will get four invites to share with your friends. This edition also includes cosmetic skins, a digital art book, The Night Raid Character Pack DLC, and more. The standard edition will cost $60 while the deluxe edition will be $80.
Overkill’s The Walking Dead will hit shelves November 6th, 2018 for North and South America. For Europe and the rest of the world, you will be able to start killing walkers November 8th. It is available for pre-order via PS4,
