Besides the cool gear you can obtain in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, there are other types of resources you’ll need to watch out for. These items come in different types and each one will work for different things. Whether you want resources to upgrade your hideout or Naoe’s and Yasuke’s gear, we’ll show you a few ways to farm it easily. Beware, though, you might need to upgrade a few things beforehand, which means it will be a long process.
Farming Resources in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Before we delve into the whats and hows, let’s make one thing clear: farming resources in Assassin’s Creed Shadows is time-consuming, a bit RNG dependent, and will require you to have almost the highest number of Scouts while also having your hideout at its highest levels. In short, you’ll need to put in a few hours to accomplish this. Yet, the outcome is quite rewarding, literally, so let’s see how to get started. Below are the things you need:
- Hideout at level 8
- You can get this by placing new buildings and upgrading others. The easiest way is to place the unique buildings and a few smaller ones.
- At least six Scouts.
- You can go for nine, but it might be a bit overkill; six should be enough.
Once you have the above things, it is time to get started.
Contracts and Smuggling
The easiest way to get resources in Assassin’s Creed Shadows is by completing seasonal contracts. You get six throughout a whole season (remember that there’s a mid-season cutscene), which means you can get a lot of materials. Some contracts reward materials for your hideout, while others for gear upgrades. Regardless, contracts should be your priority. Whenever you change seasons, grab the three you have at your Kakurega and complete them as fast as possible.
The next way to get resources, albeit a bit slower, is by smuggling. If you find a castle, fortress, or any place that has piles of resources in it, you should put your Scouts to work. Do not bother with places that have low wealth. Always go for ones with high wealth and assign your Scouts to them. Wait until the season’s end for the reward.
Dismantling Gear
Do you remember we said you’d need your hideout at level 8? Here’s why. When you reach level 8, your leftover scouts will bring you gear once a season ends. You can actually maximize your material profit by refilling your Scouts (through a Kakurega) and waiting for the season’s end. Once they return, dismantle all the gear you don’t want and keep anything you think might help you during the game. Keep in mind that this method is even more time-consuming and not as profitable as the abovementioned ones. Still, it is a good way to obtain specific materials.
How To Use Every Resource

Last but not least, here’s a quick list of how to use every resource. While it mostly boils down to hideout buildings and gear, some specific materials only work for a type of gear or some upgrades.
