Passengers aboard an early morning easyJet flight from Luton to Glasgow were left shaken after a terrifying mid-air incident involving a man who stood up and claimed he had a bomb. The flight, which departed at 7 a.m. on Sunday, July 27, took a disturbing turn when a 41-year-old man began shouting from near the back of the packed aircraft. Eyewitness video footage captured the man yelling, “Stop the plane. Find the bomb on the plane. Death to America. Death to Trump,” followed by repeatedly shouting “Allahu Akbar,” an Arabic phrase meaning “God is the greatest.”

Panic quickly spread through the cabin as concerned passengers tried to assess the situation. But before the man could escalate his behavior further, a brave passenger from row 21 jumped into action, tackling the suspect to the floor. Others quickly joined in, helping restrain the man as chaos echoed through the aircraft. “Sit down, don’t move,” one man was heard saying while holding him down.

As cabin crew announced the plane would be “landing very shortly,” passengers questioned the man about his motives. “Why did you say you wanted to bomb this plane?” one demanded, while others urgently asked if he had anything dangerous in his bags or on his body. The suspect’s wallet was searched, and his ID was recovered, prompting some passengers to visibly break down in tears.

Terrifying Mid-Flight Bomb Threat Disrupts easyJet Flight

One particularly emotional moment saw a woman crying while on the phone with a loved one, fearing the worst. Once the plane safely landed in Glasgow around 8:20 a.m., police officers from Police Scotland boarded the aircraft and arrested the man, who was still lying in the aisle. Video footage shows officers approaching the subdued suspect, who insisted he was now “calm.” When he asked for his “phone and wallet,” passengers reacted with outrage, telling him to “f-ck off,” with one remarking it felt “like a comedy sketch.”

easyJet confirmed the incident in a statement, praising their crew for their swift action. “Flight EZY609 from Luton to Glasgow this morning was met by police on arrival… easyJet’s crew are trained to assess all situations and act quickly and appropriately to ensure the safety of the flight and other customers,” the airline said.

Police Scotland also released a statement confirming the arrest, noting, “At this time we believe the incident was contained and that nobody else was involved… Videos circulating online are being assessed by counter terrorism officers.” As investigations continue, passengers are applauding the quick-thinking heroes onboard who helped prevent a potential tragedy mid-flight.
