In an odd piece of news, Nintendo has opened their official electronic storefront on eBay: might be a tad late on the eBay train, Nintendo.
“Welcome to the Official Nintendo eBay Store. Shop new and factory-refurbished systems, games, and accessories direct from Nintendo.”
Have you been on the hunt for a refurbished Wii-U? Maybe a copy of Splatoon to go with it? The Nintendo shop runs the gamut from new to refurbished accessories, consoles, and games.
Wait, these deals aren’t any better than what’s offered on their already functioning Nintendo eShop… $299 for the Mario Kart 8 bundle on both their eBay and Nintendo eShop store. So, Nintendo is looking to open up a second storefront, possibly to alleviate some of the UI issues of their clunky eShop. At the moment, there’re only 41 items for sale, all at retail price or already discounted by Nintendo.
Why eBay? There doesn’t seem to be any auctions — just the ability to “Buy It Now” or to watch an item. Does this really make use of the eBay model of sale? Probably not. But hey, they have a 100% rating on eBay right now… From three reviewers.
