Elden Ring How to Defeat Glintstone Dragon Adula
This article is over 3 years old and may contain outdated information.

At the end of Ranni’s questline in Elden Ring, Tarnished adventurers will encounter Glintstone Dragon Adula, a Great Enemy guarding the entrance of the Cathedral of Manus Celes. While defeating Adula is optional, defeating this Boss will reward players with Dragon Hearts ×3 and Adula’s Moonblade, one of the most potent Cold Sorceries in the Lands Between. This Sorcery has its caster unleash a freezing slash that launches a Frostbite-inflicting blade projectile. Nevertheless, the battle with this massive wyvern in Elden Ring can be pretty challenging, especially if Tarnished combatants do not understand what they can do to defeat her.

Defeating Glintstone Dragon Adula in Elden Ring

To beat Glintstone Dragon Adula in Elden Ring, players should know the two powerful attacks that make Adula unique from other wyverns. First, she can cast Adula’s Moonblade as an aerial move, slashing at her target in a wide-sweeping attack. Next, Adula can breathe homing Glintstone Shards from her maw that chase down Tarnished.

The rest of Glintstone Dragon Adula’s mechanics in Elden Ring are similar to other Dragons, such as Glintstone Dragon Smarag or Flying Dragon Agheel. However, she is notably much more challenging than her wyvern counterparts because of her massive size, high damage output, and the two Spells mentioned above. Adula’s Moonblade, in particular, can be relatively tricky to avoid on foot or horseback. Still, there are strategies that players can employ to take down this monstrosity with ease.

First, Tarnished should understand the resistances and weaknesses of Glintstone Dragon Adula in Elden Ring. Adula is vulnerable to Physical Damage and Piercing Damage. Conversely, she is highly resistant to Magic Damage and all status effects, including ailments such as Poison or Scarlet Rot. However, this does not mean that players can use Magic or ailments to defeat her. Just understand that such tactics will take time and large consumption of FP. For example, players can use Rotten Breath or Ekzyke’s Decay to inflict the Dragon with Rot while utilizing the interior of the Cathedral of Manus Celes as cover. This same strategy works for Spellcasters and Battlemages. Furthermore, mages can take advantage of Adula’s Physical Damage weakness by casting Gravity Sorceries on the Dragon.

As for melee users, defeating Adula will be notably more challenging since learning the Boss’s mechanics is necessary for effective dodging. Nevertheless, it is still doable, as long as players use Torrent to kite the beast while riding away to dodge the larger attacks.

Elden Ring is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
