It seems we have to wait for a bit again to finally get a hold on FromSoftware’s long-awaited epic action RPG. The company has announced that the launch of Elden Ring is delayed to February 25, 2022. Previously the game was scheduled to be released on January 21, 2022. However, together with the announcement of Elden Ring delay, FromSoftware also revealed the schedule for the closed network beta test.

Elden Ring is opening entry to the closed network beta test from Monday, October 18 at 07:00 AM PDT to Monday, November 1 at 07:59 AM PDT for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X owners. Unfortunately, there’s no mention of a PC version. You can register for the closed network beta test over on the official site. And here’s the tests schedule:

  • November 12 from 03:00 AM to 06:00 AM PDT
  • November 12 from 07:00 AM to 10:00 PM PDT
  • November 13 from 11:00 AM to 02:00 PM PDT
  • November 14 from 03:00 AM to 06:00 PM PDT
  • November 14 from 07:00 AM to 10:00 PM PDT

The network test will be held simultaneously, and PS4 and PS5 players can be matched on the same game server; likewise for Xbox One and Xbox Series X users.

Just yesterday, a 27-second long clip of gameplay footage of Elden Ring’s closed beta launch leaked to YouTube. According to rumors, the leak comes from an Xbox One build of the game, recorded through the developer mode of the console. As you can expect, it doesn’t show much aside from the character walking around and the camera pans off to show off some of the scenery. One interesting detail though, it seems this time you can do a simple standing jump, unlike in Dark Souls series where you have to run first before jumping. People also mentioned how the graphics barely looks better than Dark Souls 3, but let’s save that discussion for when we can play the full release build of the game.

Are you excited about this collaboration between FromSoftware and George R.R. Martin? Are you going to register for the closed beta? Share your thoughts in the comments and stay tuned for more nerd and gaming updates at The Nerd Stash.
