Today’s a big day for those who have been waiting for more Elden Ring content. Through its social media account, FromSoftware has finally announced that it is working on the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion for Elden Ring. This comes as a huge surprise that many players loved. As we know, there have been some leaks and rumors about a DLC coming up but the word expansion makes it sound a lot bigger. FromSoftware isn’t a stranger when it comes to launching post-game content and with the success of Elden Ring, it was only a matter of time before an official announcement.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree will be an expansion for the game

If we’re using the word expansion is because that’s the way the developers just phrased it in the announcement. As we all know, DLC is a common term in the gaming industry for any extra content that comes with an existing title. It could be in the shape of cosmetics, a few missions, or a full new story for some games. However, when we hear expansion, such as in the case of Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, it makes us think it’ll be huge.

Rise, Tarnished, and let us walk a new path together.

When it comes to story details, we’re not so sure of what might happen but we can start to speculate. The post about the upcoming Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree expansion shows an image with a few details of the upcoming content. We can observe a woman riding who we think is Torrent. In the distance, we can observe some sort of Erdtree leaking a golden liquid. Around it all, there’s a vast field with some archways and some spectral tombstones by the looks of it. It’s all a bit strange right now but FromSoftware’s staple is putting out convoluted lore and letting players discover it all. So, let’s hope we get more announcements soon and hopefully updates about what we can expect in this new chapter of 2022’s Game of the Year winner.
