There are actually three types of “greatswords” in Elden Ring: Colossal Sword, Curved Greatsword, and Greatsword. As you can expect from their names and how they work, these swords all sacrifice mobility and speed to deal extremely massive damage against enemies. Since there are a lot of weapons in the game as well as the stat-scaling system, depending on your playstyles, these are the best Greatswords and the locations where you can find them all over The Lands Between of Elden Ring.

1. Starscourge Greatsword
- Type: Colossal Sword
- Requirements: Strength 38, Dexterity 12, Intelligence 15
- Scaling: Strength D, Dexterity D, Intelligence E
I’m sure the sight of Starscourge Radahn dual-wielding this weapon will never leave your mind. Once you manage to beat him (check out our guide if you haven’t), you’ll obtain a Remembrance of the Starscourge item, which you can trade for this weapon at Finger Reader Enia in the Roundtable Hold. It has 129 default physical damage and the Starcaller Cry skill that pulls in enemies. It can also be scaled to B-grade in strength once fully upgraded. Definitely the perfect weapon for STR build.
2. Blasphemous Blade
- Type: Greatsword
- Requirements: Strength 22, Dexterity 15, Faith 21
- Scaling: Strength D, Dexterity D, Faith D
You can get it by trading Remembrance of the Blasphemous with Finger Reader Enia in the Roundtable Hold, which is an item dropped by the final boss, Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy, in Mt. Gelmir. It has the unique Taker’s Flame attack that’s very powerful, thanks to the long-range, Fire damage, and lifesteal attribute. Considering the location to find it, it’s no wonder that Blasphemous Blade is considered to be one of the best Greatsword and Faith weapons in the Elden Ring.
3. Dark Moon Greatsword
- Type: Greatsword
- Requirements: Strength 16, Dexterity 11, Intelligence 38
- Scaling: Strength D, Dexterity D, Intelligence C
Remember FromSoftware’s staple weapon, the Moonlight Greatsword? In Elden Ring, it comes as the Dark Moon Greatsword. Just like its predecessor, its unique skill lets you shoot out a beam of moonlight from its blade. You can get this weapon below the Cathedral of Manus Celes after you give the Dark Moon Ring to Ranni, which is a part of the rather lengthy Ranni’s Questline.
4. Sacred Relic Sword
- Type: Greatsword
- Requirements: Strength 14, Dexterity 24, Arcane 22
- Scaling: Strength E, Dexterity D, Faith D
Like Gargoyle’s Blackblade, this Greatsword deals additional Holy damage, and it scales with Strength, Faith, and Dexterity. In one-handed mode, you can unleash the powerful crowd-control Wave of Gold move. Get it by trading Elden Remembrance with Finger Reader Enia in the Roundtable Hold. Obtain the Elden Remembrance from the Elden Beast at the Elden Throne in Leyndell, Royal Capital… in the Elden Ring game. That’s a lot of “Elden” in one sentence.
5. Ordovis’s Greatsword
- Type: Greatsword
- Requirements: Strength 25, Dexterity 13, Faith 15
- Scaling: Strength C, Dexterity E, Faith D
While it doesn’t look that fancy, Ordovis’s Greatsword has good damage potential since it has a decent guard negating damage. And it also has an area-of-effect skill called Ordovis’s Vortex. This weapon is dropped by Crucible Knight Ordovis below the Leyndell Capital’s North Entrance area.
6. Bloodhound’s Fang
- Type: Curved Greatsword
- Requirements: Strength 18, Dexterity 17
- Scaling: Strength D, Dexterity C
Huge damage and Bleeding effect? What’s not to like? Bloodhound Knight Darriwil drops this weapon once beaten.
7. Gargoyle’s Blackblade
- Type: Greatsword
- Requirements: Strength 18, Dexterity 10, Faith 22
- Scaling: Strength D, Dexterity E, Faith D
This Greatsword deals huge Holy damage thanks to the D-grade Faith scaling and has a long-range special attack called the Corpse Wax Cutter. It’s also considered to be one of the best weapons for Faith build. Gargoyle’s Blackblade can be obtained after you beat the Black Gargoyle/Black Blade Kindred boss in the Forbidden Lands.
8. Gargoyle’s Greatsword
- Type: Greatsword
- Requirements: Strength 18, Dexterity 10
- Scaling: Strength C, Dexterity E
If you need something that scales with Strength and Dexterity, this one can be a good pick. Like Blackblade, it has a unique long-range skill called the Vacuum Slice. Defeat the Valiant Gargoyle in the lowest level of the Siofra Aqueduct in Nokron, Eternal City, to obtain this weapon.
9. Greatsword
- Type: Colossal Sword
- Requirements: Strength 31, Dexterity 12
- Scaling: Strength C, Dexterity E
For those who’re making a STR build (and want to cosplay as Berserk’s Guts), this weapon is for you. To find the location of this “heap of raw iron” Greatsword in Elden Ring, look for caravans near the Caelem Ruins area in Caelid. However, words on the streets said that there is a glitch that makes some weapons that previously scaled with Strength/Dexterity end up being weaker when upgraded to +25, including this one. With that in mind, be careful when upgrading it.
10. Marais Executioner’s Sword
- Type: Greatsword
- Requirements: Strength 24, Dexterity 14, Arcane 23
- Scaling: Strength C, Dexterity E, Arcane D
Now, this sounds like a great Greatsword for you, who’s also putting points in Arcane. Armed with a cool-looking Eochaid’s Dancing Blade move that lets you throw the sword at an enemy, you can obtain it after defeating Elemer of the Briar at The Shaded Castle in Altus Plateau. Unfortunately, players have reported that Executioner Sword is bugged and does not gain any bonus damage from stat scaling for the time being.
