Elijah Blue Allman, the son of music icon Cher, is facing new legal trouble after an alleged disturbance at an elite New Hampshire prep school. Police say the 49-year-old musician was arrested and charged following reports of disruptive behavior on campus Friday evening.

Authorities responded to St. Paul’s School in Concord around 6 p.m. local time after receiving a report of an unwanted guest. According to local outlet WMUR, the individual, later identified as Allman, allegedly caused a disturbance and acted belligerently in the dining hall.
The Concord Police Department confirmed to PEOPLE that Allman was taken into custody on Friday, February 27. He was charged with two counts of simple assault, criminal trespassing, criminal threatening, and disorderly conduct.
Officials said Allman has no connection to the school, and the investigation remains ongoing. He was processed at the Merrimack County Jail and released on personal recognizance bail, meaning he did not have to post bail but must appear at future court dates.
Recent Health Scare and Ongoing Family Support
The arrest follows a turbulent period for the musician, who was hospitalized in California in June after authorities said he was “acting erratically.” The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department previously told PEOPLE that “deputies located drugs inside the home” where Allman was found and that he was “transported to the hospital.” He was later released.
Allman’s estranged wife, Marieangela King Allman, addressed his struggles at the time, saying: “While it is true that Elijah has faced personal challenges in the past, one constant has been his unwavering commitment to sobriety and his loyalty to those he loves.”
She continued, “Like many, he continues to confront his inner struggles, but it is important to recognize that he does so from a place of strength, not defeat,” adding, “Despite the assumptions that often color how his journey is portrayed, the reality is that Elijah remains grounded, focused and deeply committed to living with integrity and purpose.”
“I want to state, without hesitation, that I will always root for him,” she said. “My support is steadfast and comes from a place of deep respect for the person he is and the resilience he continues to show.”
A source also said of Cher, “Like all mothers, she’s doing everything she can to help her son and help him get well.”
