Ellen DeGeneres still feels the sting of her past. The former talk show host is ready to reclaim her fame and is reportedly making moves to rebuild her dead talk show host career. Since fleeing the United States following President Trump‘s re-election, DeGeneres has been doing a lot of soul-searching and is ready to hit the comeback trail.
The TV host is making her plans known and reveals that this time around, she is through biting her tongue. The former queen of daytime TV made her first public appearance since her self-imposed Hollywood exile, popping up across the pond in Gloucestershire, England, of all places. Ellen is now living that low-key life with wife Portia de Rossi. However, she can’t shake the scandal that killed her squeaky-clean image.

During a candid sit-down with broadcaster Richard Bacon at the Everyman Theatre, Ellen DeGeneres opened up about the fallout from 2020. She reveals feeling horrible about the workplace toxicity scandal that killed her once-beloved daytime show. And while she tried to address the drama back when it first exploded, the “mean” label seems to have stuck like gum. Now she’s decided that she’s over it.
The actress also said that it was “kind of crazy” that calling someone mean “can be the worst thing that you say about a woman”.
Ellen DeGeneres Reveals Future Plans
“I hate that people think that I’m that,” she reportedly said, still visibly stung by how quickly the public turned. She claimed she’s empathetic, compassionate, and describes herself as blunt. However, that is what sent her reeling, landing her in the villain category.
While Ellen DeGeneres did make a humble attempt to right her wrongs, things did not go at all as she had hoped. Despite her public apology, the damage was done. These days, Ellen and Portia live a quiet life on their farm in the United Kingdom.

But Ellen is not as satisfied with the farm life as she initially thought she would be. Instead, she’s cautiously plotting her next move. She admits she dreams of having another talk show. Something fun, something different.
While she misses her old life, she has no plans to return to the United States anytime soon, if ever. So whatever her next career move might be, whether it be television or something else, she admits things will be very different this go around.
Ellen DeGeneres may be older, wiser, and more grounded in Gloucestershire, but don’t mistake her quiet retreat for defeat. She knows exactly who she is. And while she might be done with the talk show grind for now, don’t count her out just yet. If there’s one thing Ellen knows how to do, it’s stage a comeback.
