Elon Musk has been a notorious figure not just for the general population but also for specific gaming communities. In the case of the Path of Exile 2 community, they just couldn’t ignore the opportunity to troll the billionaire while he was livestreaming on his private jet. Path of Exile 2 players have even resorted to spamming Musk on the in-game chat with some rather scathing mockery of his political ties and his marriage, resulting in Musk’s deaths in-game.
The incident took place around April 5 during Elon Musk’s Starlink demo. The billionaire and Special Advisor to the President just had to use Path of Exile 2 to demonstrate the stability and reliability of his satellite internet. However, Musk was quickly swarmed by trolls who filled up his in-game whisper chat inbox with the following phrases, repeatedly:
“YOU RUINED THE COUNTRY JUST LIKE YOU RUINED ALL YOUR MARRIAGES”
“your daughter was right”
“ELON HOW IS IT POSSIBLE TO LOOK THIS DUMB AND UGLY WHY IS UR TESLA COMPANY FALLING APART”
“YOU HAVE NO REAL FRIENDS AND WILL DIE ALONE”
Some of them even pretended to be one of his exes and asked for child support. Others were more succinct in their messaging and simply wished Elon to die, presumably in-game. Unsurprisingly, Elon Musk actually died in-game. While he also tried to silence all the trolls by ignoring their usernames individually, new ones kept popping up in their place.
Musk then decided to end the live stream after repeated deaths. One of Musk’s efforts to drown out the chat-spamming from trolls was also to play Grimes’ music, one of his ex-partners.
The whole stream took nearly two hours and while Musk was able to block some of the trolls, he notably kept dying to the early-game bosses and even to the tutorial boss. Still, some of the deaths were attributed to Starlink instability and lag spikes.
No Chinese Booster This Time?
In the past, Musk has admitted to paying for Chinese players to boost his account to a higher level and with good in-game gear. This was what caused many Path of Exile 2 players to hate on Elon Musk, since many take the game seriously.
Elon Musk’s Path of Exile 2 account has been caught active many times while he was busy with his government responsibilities. Speaking of which, many viewers have since questioned Musk’s integrity as both a gamer and the director of a government agency as no other politician has consistently live-streamed video games.
Turns out he could be bad at both, seeing all the anti-Tesla protests and anti-Musk sentiments happening today and how he also doesn’t know how to disable the private chat function in Path of Exile 2. For a Starlink test, it was also rather disappointing seeing how Musk kept dying due to internet lag spikes.
