Just when the world of politics couldn’t get more unfair and confusing, Elon Musk stands up to the plate and knocks one out of the park. The billionaire entrepreneur and Senior Advisor to President Donald Trump recently attended a town hall in Green Bay, Wisconsin, where he gave out two giant checks worth one million dollars each. What did he do with these checks? He handed them out to two attendees and voters in the state as part of his support towards Brad Schimel in Wisconsin’s Supreme Court election.
It wasn’t as though no one tried to stop the corrupt Senior Advisor, who was removed from his position as the director of the Department of Government Efficiency, likely due to his inability to effectively create efficient workflows for federal government employees. In fact, the state’s attorney general tried to stop it, but the Wisconsin Supreme Court rejected it. It appears that Green Bay, Wisconsin finds more value in watching corruption in real-time rather than try to keep any of their dignity left.

Recipients Nicholas Jacobs and Ekaterine Diestler were noted to be eligible for the money after signing a petition opposing ‘activist judges,’ meaning that Musk was able to bribe voters to lean in a certain direction. Jacobs is a chair member of the Wisnoncis College Republicans, while Diestler is a graphic designer for a company linked with extreme Republican ties. It’s interesting to see a political figure bribe others with massive sums of money on such a public stage. It makes sense why so many people, not even those interested in politics, also find the man to be repulsive.
Elon Musk’s actions sparked various debates about the ethical practices performed by the billionaire. Personally, I feel that he has done nothing to earn the trust of the people, even failing to advocate for what he claims to believe whenever asked. I’ll admit, I have almost no idea what Musk even believes in as a political figure, let alone what he’s even doing in the government. It appears that he is more concerned about his physical image than what is happening underneath. Just recently, he was accused of failing to pay child support to the fourth woman he impregnated, leading to the birth of his 13th child. Hopefully, more people in power will begin to see how little Musk is aware of what he is doing, given the powerful position he was assigned.
