Larry Geller, who served as Elvis Presley’s personal hairstylist and close friend for years, witnessed his daughter live through some of her most heartbreaking moments right from her childhood. Hence, Lisa Marie Presley’s death at 54 came as a shock to him, especially after experiencing several difficult moments in her personal struggles.
Speaking to People, the hairstylist, who began working with the legendary singer in 1964, recalled how she first had to deal with her dad’s death as a young girl and eventually lost her own son. The deaths of these two people she loved dearly left the star drowning in grief until her death.
Elvis Presley’s Personal Hairstylist Remembers His Daughter Lisa Marie As A Child
During the interview, Larry remembered spending considerable time with Lisa Marie, Elvis Presley’s only daughter, as a child, long before his death. He had fond memories of the little girl dancing around the house on tiptoes and envisioning herself as a ballerina. He noted that Lisa and her dad had a strong bond, explaining:
“Lisa loved her daddy so much. When he slept late, she would sit at the top of the stairs waiting for him to come out. Elvis melted with love when she jumped into his arms.”
Sadly, her time with her dad was cut short as a teenager when the legend passed away in 1977. Again, the hairstylist was right there to witness the heartbreaking moment Elvis Presley’s daughter learned of his death. Lisa Marie Presley, who experienced four divorces in the last three decades, would face a similar heartbreak again after another death hit the family, adding to her growing list of personal struggles. He divulged:
“Lisa Marie’s life was exciting and glamorous, but not always easy. She had many personal struggles over the years, the worst being the tragic loss of her son. The overwhelming grief sucked the life out of her.”
Despite understanding the many battles Lisa Marie Presley’s life brought along, Larry Geller had some consolation knowing she found a form of peace in her last days and finally reunited with her dad.
