The Mother of Dragons, Emilia Clarke, is journeying to a galaxy far, far, away to join the cast of the Han Solo stand-alone film.
A press release from StarWars.com announced on Friday that Emilia Clarke, “will join the upcoming untitled Han Solo Star Wars movie. Clarke’s role will round out a dynamic cast of characters that Han and Chewie will encounter on their adventures”. As to what or who she will be playing, the details concerning her character are still a mystery.
Emilia Clarke has taken the hearts of nerds everywhere with her portrayal of Daenerys Targaryen on Game of Thrones. With other roles like Sarah Connor, and now the undisclosed Han Solo film role, she is quickly becoming the queen of nerdom; and no one is complaining.
Clarke will be joining an already pretty exciting cast with Alden Ehrenreich as a young Han Solo and Donald Glover as a young Lando Calrissian. The only other thing we can hope for is a cameo from the man, the myth, the legend himself: Harrison Ford.
The Han Solo film will focus on Solo and Chewie in their early years as smugglers and how they came to obtain the Millenium Falcon. As of right now, there are three Solo films in the works. Star Wars fans everywhere are excited to finally see the story behind everyone’s favorite duo, and how their story will fit into the universe as a whole.
Rogue One‘s release on December 16th, 2016 will be the official start of the Star Wars anthology films. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller’s Han Solo film is set to release sometime in May 2018. Episode VIII will also release sometime in December of next year, 2017. Star Wars fans will have plenty to keep them busy in the next couple of years.
