The 69th Primetime Emmy Awards are coming in a few short months. All the nominations were announced this morning, and there are a few surprises mixed in with some of the old mainstays.
Game of Thrones is off the table entirely, as last season was involved with last year’s Emmy Awards. HBO’s other big time drama, Westworld, received the most nominations at 22. Saturday Night Live also received 22 nominations. The most prestigious award, Outstanding Drama Series, includes five new shows, alongside perennial contenders Better Call Saul and House of Cards. The newcomers up for that award are Westworld, The Handmaid’s Tale, The Crown, This Is Us, and Stranger Things.
