If you’re looking to add more Metroidvania titles to your collection, ENDER LILIES: Quietus of the Knights, a brand new title from publisher Binary Haze Interactive and developers Live Wire, Adglobe Tokyo, and Adglobe Montreal Studio, will come to Steam Early Access for PC on January 21, 2021. The full release will be joined by PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X via backward compatibilities as well as the Switch version in Q2 2021. It will add at least eight new areas to the three already available in the Early Access version.
Presented with a dark Japanese-styled fairy tale visual, in ENDER LILIES you have to guide the priestess Lily through winding caverns, underwater landscapes, forests of glowing trees, and other areas devastated by rain that’s turning people into undead. Purify challenging and ghastly bosses to recruit them as companions. Mix and match the souls of the fallen to create an ethereal bodyguard squad, with attacks ranging from powerful ax blows to ranged bow strikes. Upon exorcising foes, Lily will experience visions revealing glimpses of the past. Piece together the whole truth and solve the mystery behind the unholy rain before facing a choice that will decide the fate of a kingdom.
The game features poignant music from Mili, a Japanese indie group that has worked on Goblin Slayer, Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045, Cytus, and Deemo. With sound effects from video game veteran Keiichi Sugiyama (Rez, Skies of Arcadia) to punctuate the soundtrack’s melancholy melodies. Binary Haze Interactive CEO Hiroyuki Kobayashi believes they have made an engaging action RPG both in gameplay and story that’s suitable for players of all skill levels:
The story of Lily and her homeland is an unfortunate one, but not without hope. She will make difficult choices as she navigates her nightmarish reality. ENDER LILIES doesn’t give up its secrets easily, but we’ve balanced our fast-paced combat system to provide a challenge for players of all skill levels while nurturing the progress of those with less experience with action RPGs.”
ENDER LILIES: Quietus of the Knights will debut on Steam Early Access at $19.99. The music in the trailer sounds fantastic and the visual kind of reminds me of Vanillaware games, so consider me interested. What do you think of this Metroidvania title, though? Drop by and let me know in the comments.
