When working in retail, it’s no secret that you can’t please everybody. Especially when an entitled customer is having a bad day or feeling dramatic, it may just get taken out on you. A retail worker was obviously having a bad day when he was followed by a needy customer in a PetSmart in Texas. When he didn’t immediately attend to her needs, he felt her rage, and the confrontation was infuriating and annoying.
Marz (@marztrip.kira) posted a TikTok video berating a worker and following them with her camera recording in PetSmart. She claims that the PetSmart worker was being “very rude” even though it’s clear that he was right in the middle of a work task. Marz approached him asking where she could buy a dog comb. You can hear her saying, “Excuse me, sir” but, since he’s pushing a cart in the other direction, it’s likely he didn’t hear her. She says the worker made an annoyed face at her and made her “feel very uncomfortable” when he realized she needed something.
The entire time, Marz chases this employee while he’s working with her camera recording the incident. When he turns around, he waits to hear what she needs and is clearly annoyed that he’s suddenly on camera. Who wouldn’t be, after all? She keeps things going and says that she felt ignored. He tries to explain calmly to her that he was in the middle of a work task. Management shows up off-camera and tries to get to the bottom of things. However, Marz is only concerned with the worker’s apparent “attitude” and brings it up in the most Karen way possible. In the end, management points her in the right direction so she can get the comb she came for.
One commenter pointed out, “You were uncomfortable, but you chased him down? You were uncomfortable, but on a mission??” Another stated, “Ya’ll just want a viral moment…” It seems like a lot of TikTokers are looking to create a production just so they can get people talking and quickly rise to fame online, which can lead to a lot of annoying moments. One commenter says what we’re all thinking: “So thankful not to work in retail anymore. Now customers harass and chase you with a camera.” It’s wild and kind of dystopian that this is how so many people choose to hold conversations with others. It’s no wonder why workers get so easily irritated.
