Today is a big day for strategy fans because Europa Universalis V is launching its first immersion pack: Fate of the Phoenix. While this DLC isn’t as big as an expansion, it lets players take charge of a struggling Byzantine empire and rise from the ashes in a new, challenging scenario. So, if you’ve been craving for more Europa Universalis V, Fate of the Phoenix will keep you occupied for a while, in one of its most challenging content additions to date.

Europa Universalis V: Fate of the Phoenix is Available Now

First, the good news: this immersion pack is available right now, and you can either get it for $9.99 or for free if you’ve purchased the premium edition.

For newcomers, Immersion Packs are usually smaller DLCs for Europa games, which often bring one new empire, a new scenario, and some mechanics exclusive to these new empires. In the case of Fate of the Phoenix, players will be able to play as the Byzantine Empire and lead it as they try to revive it.

Some of the new content coming to this Immersion Pack includes the Byzantine Bureaucracies, which will put your empire at a crossroads, either allowing you to continue with its old ways or take a new path to thrive. You also have the Latinitas vs Romanismos system, which will see you choose between the Latin and Greek cultures. And of course, a new Disaster that will have you looking for ways to keep the empire afloat.

On top of that, you can expect the usual new art, portraits, units, and more alongside the arrival of all the abovementioned things. So, if you’ve paused your Europa Universalis V campaigns for a while, Fate of the Phoenix will give you that nudge to return to them.

Also, remember that there’s a hefty roadmap planned for this year. Paradox Interactive unveiled its roadmap for the year, kicking off with Fate of the Phoenix, and a free update with a Trade rework, Balkans content, and more. There are more free updates planned throughout the year, and you can take a look at the roadmap to see the release window for each, including the Chronicle Packs, which look like expansions from previous games.
