The season of tactical RPGs is upon us, with Star Wars Zero Company and Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave debuting in the coming weeks. However, we’ll focus on the latter today, as it had a huge Nintendo Direct today, showcasing aspects of the story, characters, units we can recruit, and that sweet Fire Emblem gameplay we all love. In case you missed it, we’ve made a quick summary of everything that was announced during the show.

Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave Direct Roundup

For those who missed it, we’ve attached the Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave Direct, which we recommend watching. Yet, if you only want the important points, we also have that for you here.

Four Stories That You Can Play in Parallel

While we already knew Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave would feature a huge character roster, we now know that we’ll be able to tackle four different stories. However, there will be a system in the game that will allow you to play all four simultaneously.

Once unlocked, you can swap between Cai, Dietrich, Theodora, and Leda without losing progress in the other stories or having to start a new game, which is quite useful. Also, similar to Three Houses, it seems each protagonist will have a different character roster, although we also saw a few clips of the player being able to control several protagonists at once, so we’ll have to wait and see how that will happen in the game.

Beginner, Advanced, and Specialty Classes

Another big part of every Fire Emblem game is its classes, and Fortune’s Weave isn’t an exception. Judging by the showcase, there will be around 19 classes to pick from, and that’s without counting character-specific classes, assuming there are some of them.

It seems the system will be similar to those in previous Fire Emblem installments, where we’ll go from Beginner to Advanced, and finish with Specialty classes. So far, we’ve seen several that are new for this entry, such as an Elephant Rider and a Guardian, which specializes in spears and magic. And it also seems that progressing through the class system will require us to pass certification exams, with the success rate varying depending on the character’s stats.

Life in Dagsion

Dagsion Activities

Last, but certainly not least, we have Dagsion, which is a step up from the Monastery or the Somniel we’ve seen in previous games. Here, players will be able to explore freely and take part in different activities, such as Training, the Arena, the aforementioned Certification Exams, and even obtaining blessings in the Temple before a battle.

However, it goes beyond that, as you’ll also receive quests here, as well as meet characters that you’ll be able to recruit, provided you manage to convince them. And since the Heroic Games have matches at specific times, you’ll be able to travel around the continent to meet merchants, gather clues about other events on the map, and even face a few optional battles. Speaking of battles, there are also dungeons full of materials and treasure, but most importantly, turn-based battles. Here, you’ll fight alongside other characters at the same time in a system reminiscent of turn-based RPGs, but with many abilities from this installment.

Yet, there is one more surprise, which many might have expected already. Like any other game in the franchise, Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave has a true protagonist, whose role is to prevent the end of the world by helping the four heroes. There seems to be some time travel involved, as well as the return of everyone’s favorite Goddess, Sothis, so it seems that the story will be quite intriguing.

While all of us would love to play the game already, we’ll have to wait until September 17, 2026. Pre-orders are already up, as well as the collector’s edition with many physical goodies for players.
