All gamers heard their knees creak today as The Legend of Zelda celebrated its 40th anniversary. Old-school gamer jokes aside, it was a fantastic Nintendo Direct, with several announcements, reveals, and some details about long-awaited titles. The Legend of Zelda Live-Action Movie is Called The Legend of Zelda
And the long-awaited live-action film for The Legend of Zelda finally got its official title, and well, it is The Legend of Zelda. According to Miyamoto, we will have to see this original film to understand why there’s no subtitle. Also, we know it will be based on many stories from the series. For the skeptical, it seems many at Nintendo are involved, so that is good news. Now, we’ll have to wait for its premiere on April 30, 2027.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Unveils New Gameplay Details
Of course, the big star of the show was the remake of Ocarina of Time, which looks much better than any of us imagined and captures that classic feel with some gorgeous new visuals. To get started, Link can finally jump on command, which might seem small, but it is a huge addition to the remake. On top of that, swapping items is much easier, and a familiar UI, reminiscent of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. Also, we got a look at Hyrule, and it is just breathtaking. The scope of this remake is beyond anything we ever thought, and longtime fans as well as newcomers will certainly love it. New Amiibo Are On the Way
Like many new Nintendo games, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is also getting Amiibo. They are coming sometime in 2027, and we will get Young Link and Young Zelda. In-game, both Amiibo will unlock special masks, although we’re not sure if we’re only getting the ones we saw at the Direct or a few more.
Nintendo Switch 2 – The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition
There’s another surprise coming for Zelda fans, and that is the new edition of the Nintendo Switch 2 to celebrate this huge milestone. The truth is that it looks amazing, and fans of the series will definitely want to add it to their collection, regardless of whether they own the console already or not. On top of that, there’s also a case and a Pro Controller on the way, all of it launching on October 29, 2026.
