Ewan McGregor still loves playing Obi-Wan Kenobi, even after all these years. It seems like Ewan has not had his fill of the iconic character at all. McGregor recently stated in an interview that he would love to return to the role once again after reprising the Disney Plus Kenobi series. The series followed the broken-down Jedi Master as he saved a young Princess Leia from certain doom. Star Wars fans had mixed feelings about the Kenobi series, as many loved the show. However, there were a few fans who thought it was a cheap cash grab by a money-hungry Disney. McGregor admitted that he did, in fact, have to lie about filming. The actor also noted that this time, he is not lying and has no idea if he will get another crack at the character. According to GeoTV, Ewan had to hide his involvement in the Obi-Wan season for many years.
Ewan McGregor Is Uncertain About a Return to Star Wars
“I don’t know. There’s been no phone call to me from Lucasfilm or Disney saying, ‘Let’s do another one.’ Obi-Wan was made as a limited series, and it’s out, and people like it, which I’m very, very pleased about.”
As McGregor continued, he jokingly said that he still has a few more years left until he is the same age as Alec Guinness in A New Hope. He followed up by saying there is still more time left to tell another story.
Obi-wan Kenobi is one of the most beloved characters in the Star Wars franchise, and many fans would love to see Ewan McGregor return once again as the Jedi Master and High Council member. It would be amazing to see Ewan back as Obi-Wan again, but as of right now, it is not happening. However, fans everywhere can continue to keep their hopes up!
