There is no shortage of morons in the world. Unfortunately, there are many instances where these morons will try to do what they can to make fast cash, even robbing old people. One video that was reposted to Reddit depicts a young man attempting to rob an elderly Uber driver for his cash. While it already doesn’t make sense to rob a primarily digital company for cash, the robber quickly realized that he had met his match: ex-military personnel.
It actually took me a few watches to realize what was going on. The video is from the point of view of a dashcam facing the interior of a car. After the video begins, the driver, an elderly man, can be heard asking someone off-camera if they need help. Suddenly, a young man sits down in the car’s passenger seat and immediately demands cash off the old man. The man is quick to stand his ground, even stating that, “I don’t have cash. It’s a digital world, bro.”
After deliberations for a few seconds, the elderly man makes a split-second decision to drive away while the passenger seat door is still open, leaving the thief behind. Then, the passenger sitting in the back seat becomes more apparent. He immediately shows his gratitude and thanks the driver for what he did. It is then that the driver revealed that he was ex-military and that the thief didn’t stand a chance from the beginning. The comments all vilify the thief and question his intelligence while also praising the elderly man’s actions.
“What kind of moron tries to roll an uber driver for cash?”
I have to agree with this commenter since I don’t carry cash in my wallet, either. I can’t even remember the last time I did. Ultimately, we live in a digital world, and if someone really wants to take my credit cards, at least I can cancel them.
