Some might even argue that democracy is dying in this nation, while fascism seems to be on the rise. Beyond protesters taking to the streets, students are among those who refuse to just stand by and watch. One UCLA student from California decided to seize her moment in the spotlight to send a powerful message. This was not just a move for clout; the woman is a first-generation immigrant who will undoubtedly feel the pressure from ICE and the Trump administration’s harsh and unjust actions against many immigrants.
In her speech, the UCLA student praised those who have been standing up against the tyrannical acts of the Trump administration. She claimed that the current administration is actively attacking democracy and freedom. She also highlighted how hypocritical it is for Trump and his followers to try to remove immigrants who have been one of the pillars of America’s prosperity.
At one point, the California woman boldly said, “F*** ICE and f*** the Trump administration,” which earned major applause from the audience. She went on to say that the Trump administration and ICE agents should go touch some grass and find new hobbies. She described their current actions as a power trip fueled by psychopathic tendencies that tear apart honest, hardworking families.
She explained that the reason she brought this up was that she would feel hypocritical not to mention such a heated topic when her whole speech was about speaking up. Still, she made it clear that these comments were entirely her own opinion and had no connection to UCLA or any other organization she might be affiliated with.
Reddit users online applauded the UCLA student’s speech and actions. Many agree that what Trump is currently doing is actively harming America and believe he and his supporters must be stopped. One user wrote, “Love to see the students still fighting. This is my alma mater, and sadly UCLA is one of many schools folding to every demand of the Trump administration.”
Another commented, “You cannot call yourself a Christian and dehumanize others; you’re just using Christianity to hide how evil you are. If there is a Hell, there’s a special place for all these people.” However, not everyone supported her because Trump and MAGA supporters also saw the speech and criticized her as an entitled child who doesn’t understand what the real world is like.
