Forza in the new Fable

In July 2020, Microsoft unveiled one of its biggest titles for the Xbox Series X console. Playground Games (the company that brought us the Forza Horizon series) shall be bringing us the new reboot of the beloved and often controversial Fable series. It has just been leaked through a Software Engineer job listing on Microsoft’s website, that this new iteration of the beloved series, will be developed using the Forza engine.

Apart from keeping the old formulas that made the original Fable great, the production team has talked about wanting to give the franchise a fresh start.

The world of Fable first entered our collective conscience in 2004 for the original Xbox. What had initially set it apart from other major fantasy games at the time, was how choice shaped your character as well as the world around them. The dark humor, the music score, and the memorable cast of characters aided in making the game stand out. Although its two sequels were problematic for fans of the series mainly due to their short lengths and unkept developmental promises; fans still adored the atmosphere and story that the world of Albion provided them. This is why the addition of the Forza engine is intriguing.

Just imagine the world-building that ForzaTech could bring to the series in regards to the content. That alone is worth piquing our interest. Here is why. Potential leaks have mentioned that the game may take place across multiple planets and may include time travel. Despite the potential of leaked information, one fact remains. The Forza engine is notorious for its beautiful landscapes and graphics. One thing that will be certain about the Fable reboot is it has the potential to be absolutely stunning. As for its content and the new gameplay features? Those shall remain a mystery for the time being. Until then, let’s hope it is worth the wait.
