While I hate to call it a “teleporter” because that is not what it is, Facebook stated in a recent press release that by the year 2025 they intend to have a created the next level of Virtual Reality technology.
“Facebook wants to build a device that allows you to be anywhere you want, with anyone, regardless of geographic boundaries,” said the company’s chief technical officer, Mike Schroepfer.
Last year Facebook purchased Oculus Rift VR, one of the forerunners in the race to develop a consumer level VR headset. Theirs, the Oculus Rift, is set to come out next year. In addition to this, Oculus Rift VR has been working on the Oculus Touch which is a pair of controllers, developed specifically for VR. They aim to replicate a user’s natural hand movements and allow them to manipulate objects inside the virtual space.
When the Oculus Touch begins shipping it will come pre-packaged with a tool called Medium which will allow users to sculpt virtual objects in 3D using the controllers. A demonstration video is below:

Oculus partnered with Surreal Vision, a company specializing in real-time 3D scene reconstruction in May. The goal behind this partnership is to create the technology to effectively have your real environment constantly represented accurately within the virtual reality environment.
