Psst. You. Yeah, you. Does the idea of a wizard guild featuring a fire user who happens to be the son of a dragon interest you? Because that’s what Fairy Tail is all about, and the newest film, Dragon Cry, is set to premiere in New Zealand and Australia pretty soon. Sure, we in the U.S. will have to wait a bit longer, but thanks to a certain Madman (the distributor for the subs), we at least can understand what people are saying in the movie trailer below.

Well, Natsu, I’d say you look like a guy who’s ready to kick some serious ass. As said in the trailer, Dragon Cry delivers the climax of the series as presented in the original manga. Premiering on May 16, 2017, the Fairy Tail guild is tasked with recovering the artifact known as Dragon Cry, stolen from the kingdom of Fiore and delivered to the king of the Stella kingdom, Animus. Everyone seems to have different reasons for wanting to possess the Cry, while Animus’s is shrouded in mystery. The movie, being the series finale, takes place ahead of the anime, so potential spoilers should go without saying.
Fairy Tail was penned in 2006 and is still ongoing today with 60 volumes so far. The anime adaptation currently consists of 265 episodes up to the Tartaros arc, nine spinoff OVAs, the first and soon-to-be second film (Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry), and the Fairy Tail Zero series, which features the guild’s founding master, Mavis Vermillion. The plot follows the manga faithfully and does a wonderful job adapting the still images into brightly colored motion. The English voice acting is top-notch, and it all comes together to make the series a must-have staple for any fan.
