Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is the latest online multiplayer game to take the world by storm. Although it has only been out for less than a month, it is already one of the most talked-about games of the year. Part of this is due to it being one of August’s free games on PlayStation Plus, where it became the most downloaded game in the subscription service’s history. But a bigger part is how simple and ridiculously fun the game is. It’s become so popular so quickly that Season 2 has already been teased.
Currently, players can only experience Fall Guys on PlayStation 4 and PC via Steam. Microsoft and Nintendo fans are undoubtedly wondering when they’ll be able to get their hands on it. While developer Mediatonic has expressed interest in porting it to other platforms, it isn’t a priority. But the team has a good reason for it.
Lead game designer Joe Walsh recently appeared on an episode of Talk Guys, a talk show within Fall Guys hosted by Twitch streamer Kate Stark and Rogue One writer Gary Whitta. As initially reported by PureXbox, Walsh explained why they aren’t focusing on getting the game on more platforms.
Right now our real focus is on making the PlayStation and PC games as good as they possibly can be. We really have to build trust with the community now and make sure they believe that we can support this game and make it really good. So it’s our job now to be like, hey community – we know what you want and we’re listening and we’re working as hard as we can to try and fix it, and for us to just say, ‘now we’re going to just focus on bringing it to more platforms’, it’s not the right thing to do at this point in development.”
While Fall Guys is coming to mobile, it will only be available in China. On the bright side, when the game does come to more platforms, it will be the very best version it can be.
