It’s the end of an era for Marvel’s X-Men as the upcoming Fall of the House of X brings the Krakoan Age to a close. Earlier this week, Marvel teased the logo and details for its forthcoming X-projects: Fall of the House of X and Rise of the Powers of X. These new projects are expected at the beginning of next year and will help usher in a new age for the mutants. Writer Gerry Duggan and artist Lucas Werneck are handling Fall of the House of X. While Kieron Gillen and R.B. Silva bring Rise of the Powers of X to life. More details are expected at next month’s NYCC.
Fall Of The House Of X
Currently, the mutants of the Marvel universe are dealing with the Fall of X event. This sees several fan-favorite X-Men scattered across the globe, missing, or dead, all while trying to stop the mutant genocide of the terrorist group known as Orchis. If you have been keeping up with the event and wondered how Krakoa and its denizens will bounce back from this devastation, it turns out they won’t.
Marvel has revealed that the Krakoan Age of mutants, which began with Jonathan Hickman’s mutant overhaul in 2019, is ending. Fall of the House of X and Rise of the Powers of X are two projects that promise to usher in a new age.
Power In A Name
Eagle-eyed fans will notice a recurring motif in the naming of recent X-Men projects. Back in 2019, Jonathan Hickman kicked off this Krakoan Age with The House of X. Soon after, The Powers of X introduced a darker future with mutants and humans locked in war. Well, with the Fall of the House of X approaching and the Rise of the Powers of X following soon after, it looks like that dark future is on the horizon.
Hopefully, we will get a lot more information at “Marvel’s Next Big Thing” panel at NYCC next month.
