Taylor Swift‘s globe-trotting since commencing her Eras Tour and romance with Travis Kelce leaves an alarming carbon footprint and togues are beginning to wail. In March 2023, Taylor commenced the first leg of her tour, making stops in various cities across the United States. The ongoing international leg has seen the songstress perform in cities like Tokyo among others, scoring record-breaking points along the way. This weekend presented a dilemma for Taylor Swift, caught between fulfilling her concert in Tokyo and landing at the LAX Airport in time for the Super Bowl, all within 24 hours.
Taylor Swift Arrives At the LAX Airport Ahead of Super Bowl
While she achieved the feat thanks to her luxurious private jet, it came at the expense of more carbon emissions, and some fans find it concerning. In the days leading to the Super Bowl, speculations about whether or not the crooner would make it in time following her Tokyo performance made the rounds.
She proved her determination to support her boyfriend Travis by arriving at the LAX Airport, Los Angeles in her private jet, with hours to spare before the Super Bowl. While the time zone differences contributed to making this adventurous globe-trotting possible, she undoubtedly owed a big part of it to the luxurious plane.
Taylor Swift’s arrival at the LAX Airport in a private jet just hours after touching down in Tokyo for her Eras Tour concert has received mixed reactions. While the fanatics loyally rooting for the Traylor romance find it romantic that she made her way across the globe to support Travis Kelce, others criticize Taylor Swift for hopping on a private jet yet again, resulting in more carbon emission.
Swifties Come Through Amid Backlash
Speaking to AP News, one fan, Hitomi Takahashi who attended the Tokyo concert stepped up in Taylor’s defense. Slamming those criticizing her globe-trotting, the 29-year-old pointed out that singling out Taylor Swift among hundreds attending the Super Bowl in their private plane was unfair. She quipped,
“Many other people are flying on business, and she is here for her work. She faces a bashing because she is famous and stands out.”
Notably, celebrities and famous figures have faced backlash for their indiscriminate use of private planes. Many argue that such travels have dire implications on global warming, which using public services could have been mitigated. Some famous figuresincluding the British royals have taken active steps to reduce their carbon footprint by opting for train rides or public flights when necessary. However, such options are not always feasible, especially when racing against time or prioritizing safety.
