No, this isn’t an April Fool’s Joke, but it is on theme. Tekken 8 players are clamoring for a certain collaboration with one of America’s finest institutions, and best of all, there’s a nonzero percent chance of it happening. I am, of course, talking about the Waffle House, a mighty American restaurant chain famous for its waffles and infamous for its late-night brawls. All fans want is one thing: for Waffle House to become a playable stage in Tekken 8. And Katsuhiro Harada responded.
Will Waffle House Become a Playable Stage in Tekken 8?
After multiple requests for Waffle House to become a playable stage in Tekken 8, Game Director Katsuhiro Harada responded to a fan on Twitter regarding the matter. Initially confused as to why players were requesting the stage, fans responded with some iconic explanations. “The strongest fighters come here at 2 a.m. after a night of drinking,” one fan responded. Another replied, “In the US a lot of drunk people go to [the Waffle House] after a night of drinking and often get into fights.”
Harada later responded to all the requests, stating that he “understands that many people are requesting it.” He clarified that Waffle House might not make it into Tekken 8 because the chain itself might not want to feature in the game, as “[Waffle House] has both the trademark and the rights to the restaurant.” What I’m hearing is that if Waffle House does accept a theoretical request to feature in Tekken 8, then we might see Waffle House on the main stage at EVO this year.
In other words, please, Waffle House. This is a great opportunity for both parties! It would bring the world great pleasure to see such an iconic restaurant in one of the craziest fighting games of all time. And if we actually get to see this stage featured in the world’s greatest fighting game tournament, the story writes itself.
