The GTA 6 drought is real, and now, Rockstar has set a new record for the longest time without dropping a follow-up GTA trailer for an upcoming sequel. It has been more than a year since GTA 6‘s first trailer was unveiled. Hence, fans are notably excited, ravenous, and anxious all at the same time — so much so, that some have prepared an elaborate evidence board and theory pointing to a supposed hint for the release date of GTA 6 trailer 2.
Apparently, Rockstar’s “subliminal” hints point to December 27, 2024– today, as the release date for GTA 6 trailer 2. Well, the day has yet to expire, so anything is possible, but hope is dwindling with each passing hour.
As for the theories themselves, some GTA 6 fans have taken their time of the day to collate what they have assumed as Rockstar Games’ series of hints. It comes complete with extremely wishful math and decoding that blurs the line between parody and vigilance.
Sadly, the post has since been removed from the subreddit, but it mostly points to how Rockstar could be leaving some riddles for GTA 6 trailer 2’s release date.
Here’s a similar post:
It all began when Rockstar Games started gifting Rockstar sweatshirts to its employees with the font having the colorways of Vice City. One of the posts of the sweatshirts on social media even has an address in Florida and what everyone assumed to be a date, “1227.” From there, a new meme and conspiracy theory was born.
Some even saw a Rockstar Games employee post of a cat inside of a paper bag as some kind of hidden message from Rockstar saying “The cat’s still in the bag.” Others have pointed out that the GTA franchise turned 27 years old this month, pointing to December 27 as a possible opportunity for a trailer drop.
Some Fans Were More Skeptical
Of course, to balance it out, some fans had to resist the hopium by saying something like “Prepare to get absolutely NOTHING 🖐😌🤚” as Reddit user xKESSINGER mockingly commented.
Some of the more realistic GTA 6 fans also advised the excited theorists to curb their anticipation– or better yet, to prepare for disappointment. The day still has several hours before it ends in the UK (which is where Rockstar Games is based) and it has just started in North America.
While a lot can still happen, a lot also can’t happen. And it’s not like the trailer will disappear after Rockstar Games unveils it (assuming they do today). You can always view it anytime once it drops– unless you prefer waiting with the other “12/27” conspiracy theorists.
