On January 6, 2025, news broke via TMZ that Zendaya, known for her work in Euphoria, was engaged. In case you didn’t know, the award-winning actress has been in a serious relationship with Tom Holland since 2017. The pair met while filming Spiderman: Homecoming and have since popped on red carpets for years, showering each other with love. When fans found out that the former Disney star was engaged to Holland, many were ecstatic for the young star. “True love still exists, everyone,” someone wrote on X. Others praised Zendaya for having a more traditional story — one that includes marriage before a baby. In the process, however, fans began dragging others, including Skai Jackson.

After learning of Zendaya’s engagement to Tom Holland, spectators began sharing their opinions online. One post, shared by an X user, sparked much controversy. “See how Zendaya got a ring instead of a baby??? Yeah,” they wrote. Currently, the post has been seen over six million times, causing major conversations. One of the most liked replies to the post was one calling out Skai Jackson. Another user listed more celebrities underneath that, including Kylie Jenner, Cardi B, and Halle Bailey.
In case you need a refresher, Skai Jackson, known for her time on Disney, was a hot topic in 2024. The Jessie actor announced her pregnancy with her boyfriend, Deondre Burgin. “I’m thrilled to begin this new chapter in my life — embracing motherhood and diving into new acting projects. My heart is so full!” Jackson said in a previous interview. Shortly after, Skai’s boyfriend was arrested in Ohio for a parole violation.
Netizens wasted no time letting the young actor know how they felt about her choice of men. “I don’t feel sorry for Skai Jackson.” They continued, “Letting a [guy] whose FB name is yerkky yerkky get you pregnant was most certainly a choice.” Others also involved Halle Bailey, who has a 1-year-old son with streamer DDG, in their public rant. “Halle Bailey, Skai Jackson, Flo Milli, and Keke Palmer all having REAL human babies by bum Black men with no ring on their finger,” they commented before another called it an “epidemic.”

Although some fans were blasting celebrities like Skai Jackson for having a baby before getting engaged, others came to their defense. Once @TheShadeRoom posted the aforementioned viral post on their page, a few others jumped in to share a different perspective. “I saw someone say a ring doesn’t keep a man … but a baby doesn’t either, sweetheart. Pick a struggle,” one user commented. “We can applaud her without shading other women,” another wrote. A third user also chimed in, asking why people “use celebratory moments to talk down on other people?” They continued: “That’s so weird to me. Just say congratulations to Zendaya without having to bash other women.”
However, many others seemingly agreed with the post.
