19A Fantastic Four variant cover for the seventh and eighth issues of the series brings 700 different Marvel characters together. To celebrate Fantastic Four #7, which is the 700th entry in the franchise, Scott Koblish decided to release a wraparound connecting variant. It features 700 characters from across the Marvel Universe in one place. It’s the perfect “Where’s Wally?” for fans of the comics.
Fantastic Four Variant
This variant wrap around has plucked heroes and villains from across Marvel to celebrate 700 years. Speaking of this feat, Koblish shared that he has been “a big fan of Fantastic Four” ever since he was a little kid. Therefore, this variant piece is an honor for the artist and “a dream come true to scroll through every issue of Fantastic Four ever.”
Of course, it does add a level of pressure to bring all those Marvel characters together for an issue as monumental as this one. Or, as Koblish puts it: “I hope I was able to convey all of the sheer joy, wonder, and boundless creativity that the Fantastic Four have embodied for six decades.”
Celebrating 700 Years
This fun variant is to honor Fantastic Four #7, which is the 700th issue of Marvel’s first family. The issue comes from writer Ryan North and artist Iban Coello. The oversized comic features the Fantastic Four reaching their new home. However, they are unaware that a mysterious threat is already there and waiting. With the knowledge of Language Itself slowly slipping from the heroes, the family is in disarray. It sounds like the perfect time for Doom to make a move, don’t you think?
Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, and Art Simek introduced the Fantastic Four in 1961. They starred in the aptly titled Fantastic Four #1. Last year, North and Coello took the reins on the superhero family and focused on them finding their way back to one another after several events.
Fantastic Four #7 and Koblish’s variant releases on May 17. Meanwhile, the second half of the mega-variant on Fantastic Four #8 releases the following month.
