Completing Far Cry 6 checkpoints are a vital part of freeing Yara from Anton Castillo. You will need to be capturing checkpoints across Yara to progress in the game. Here we will look at some of the best ways to capture checkpoints in Far Cry 6.
Capturing a Checkpoint in Far Cry 6
Checkpoints will become available early in the game, shortly after you meet Juan Cortez. In order to capture a checkpoint, you need to kill all of the soldados guarding it. Once you have killed the soldados you will need to destroy the Anton Castillo billboard that each checkpoint has. The best way to destroy the billboard is by shooting the oil drum next to it until it explodes. Once you have destroyed the billboard the checkpoint will turn over to Guerilla control.
There are a few different methods for capturing a checkpoint. It’s best to play around with the different styles to find one that suits you but here are some to start with.
Capturing a Checkpoint With Stealth
There are two main ways to capture a checkpoint in Far Cry 6. Stealth or guns blazing. Guns blazing doesn’t require a lot of tactical prowess, simply point, shoot, and blow up the billboard as fast as possible. However, when trying to capture a checkpoint in a stealthy manner you’re going to want to make sure you follow a few key rules. First, try to machete any soldados that you can from behind. This will take them out quickly and quietly without alerting the other soldados at the checkpoint.
Secondly, be aware of booby traps. Soldados will often have a booby trap near to them which means even if you take them out quietly with the machete you will still set off the trap and alert the rest of the soldados. Finally, leave Guapo behind! Bringing a man-eating alligator with you on a stealth mission may sound like an obvious tip but it’s easy to forget that he is following you. Simply leave him behind a little bit away from the checkpoint to make sure he doesn’t devour anyone and alert the whole army.
Far Cry 6 is available now on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC.
