Fat Joe‘s reputation is under scrutiny as a new lawsuit accuses him of having sex with minors and forcing his hype man, Terrance “TA” Dixon, into multiple sexual acts. On Thursday, the 54-year-old rapper became the latest hip-hop star to be roped into allegations of a sex offence. Fat Joe, whose real name is Joseph Anthonio Cartagena, has been caught up in a legal spat with Dixon since April. At the time, the rapper filed a defamation lawsuit against Dixon for slandering him on social media with claims that he solicited a 16-year-old for sex.
Barely two months later, Dixon is retaliating with a full-blown lawsuit, detailing the most atrocious sexual encounters involving Fat Joe, and in some instances, minors. On Thursday, Terrance Dixon, who served as the rapper’s hype man for 16 years, hit Fat Joe with the lawsuit, filed at a Federal Court in New York City, alleging that his former boss engaged in various questionable conduct.
Terrance Dixon Demands $20 Million in Lawsuit Against Fat Joe
He highlighted some of these acts in the lawsuit, including “coercive labor exploitation, financial fraud, sexual manipulation, violent intimidation, and psychological coercion.” Dixon, represented by Tyone A. Blackburn, is demanding $20 million in damages from his former employee per the lawsuit.
However, Fat Joe, via his attorney Joe Tacopina, has since denied all allegations, describing it as an act of retaliation against the rapper for the lawsuit filed against Dixon in April. In a statement to TMZ, Tacopina rebuffed the allegations as “lies intended to damage his reputation and force a settlement through public pressure.” Tacopina reassured that law enforcement was truly aware of Dixon’s motives and tactics.
In the lawsuit, Terrance Dixon accused the influential rap artist of attaining fame and fattening up his bank account at his own expense by underpaying him, denying him songwriting credits, as well as denying him credits for his substantial contributions to Fat Joe’s works both creatively and commercially. Throughout his sixteen years working with Fat Joe, Dixon contributed beyond his capacity as hype man, showing up as a background vocalist and lyricist in some of his hits.
Dixon Accuses Rapper of Sexual Relations With Minors
Their close working relationship gave the hype man a vantage point to observe most of his employer’s disturbing off-stage antics, some of which he was forced to partake in. Among the most horrifying claims he made against the rapper is his sexual involvement with minors.
In the court documents, which include a trigger warning on its first page, Dixon recounted Fat Joe’s sexual relations with at least three minors, including a 15-year-old Caucasian girl he met at an overseas concert. He alleged that the rapper flew the minor several times to New York and Miami, and also paid for her BBL because her body was “not fully formed.”
Another minor, a 16-year-old Dominican girl, allegedly performed oral sex and other sexual acts on the rapper in exchange for cell phone bill payments, cash, and clothing. His relationship with the third unnamed minor was far more complicated. In the lawsuit, Terrance Dixon claimed that Fat Joe fell in love with the victim, a Latina, when she was only fifteen, took on all her bills, and contemplated leaving his wife for her.
Fat Joe Allegedly Coerced Employee Into Sexual Acts
Even as an adult, Dixon was not spared from his employer’s disturbing sexual fixation. He accused Fat Joe of forcing him into having sex multiple times, under duress and surveillance. These coercive sexual acts amounted to over 4000 times by his estimate, all to “maintain his standing within the Enterprise.”
Unsurprisingly, fans find these figures absurd, sparking comparisons to disgraced rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs. Reacting to Dixon’s claim that Fat Joe coerced him into more than 4,000 sexual acts, one Reddit user exclaimed,
“4K is an absolutely wild amount! Did Diddy even do that much?”
Another noted that “this is just as believable as the Diddy shit. Fat Joe says too much stupid shit to not be involved in some bullshit,” while a third genuinely hoped “there is some way of this not being true, because this sounds horrifying.” Fat Joe is only the latest star dragged into a lawsuit involving a sexual offence, either with a minor or by assaulting a partner in the wake of the Diddy scandal. While some of these stars have risen above their allegations, as with the case of Jay Z, others have sunk deeper into the web of their questionable conduct as the ensuing legal battles expose their darkest sides.
