Donald Trump‘s administration won’t be rosy for his critics. The president-elect plans to mete out revenge, according to longtime political analyst Jonathan Martin. The political journalist, in an interview, discussed Trump’s threat to use his Department of Justice to go after his enemies.
Following President Joe Biden‘s recent pardon for his son Hunter Biden, there have been deliberations on handing out preemptive pardons to Trump adversaries like Dr. Anthony Fauci and former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY). The discussion came up during an appearance on MSNBC’s Morning Joe. Martin was asked about the absurdity of such happening, to which he answered:
“It’s completely shocking to even write this. The idea of offering people who have not been charged with any crime, there’s no even hint of committing any crimes, pardons, because the nature of the incoming administration is such that they’re pretty open about the idea of pursuing a kind of third world model.”
The author predicted that Trump supporters would defend his actions with the excuse, “They [Democrats] started lawfare first. They indicted Trump left and right.” Martin brought up the indictment against Trump — which was recently dismissed — and the prosecution of the January 6 Capitol Rioters.
The Biden administration’s concern were heightened last week after Trump announced the appointment of Kash Patel to lead the FBI. It is no news that Patel, often called the “political executioner,” has publicly vowed to go after Trump’s attackers. However, White House officials find themselves in a dilemma because giving a preemptive pardon suggests impropriety. There is also the part of those being offered the pardons rejecting them because they have committed no crimes.
Donald Trump Labeled A ‘Murderous Psychopath’ For Alleged Revenge Plan
While nothing is set in stone from both the Biden and Trump administrations, citizens online are rooting for the current administration to go through with the pardons. Many fear Trump will follow through on his threat and probably exert punishment in unthinkable manners.
“Surprised??? He has continuously promised death and destruction, and he is going to deliver,” one user alleged. “He is a murderous psychopath responsible for the deaths of thousands due to his gamesmanship during COVID-19.”
A second comment read:
“He [Trump] doesn’t give a damn about being called a hypocrite. As far as he’s concerned, he’s the president, and what he says goes – consistency and rationality be damned.”
A third fan urged the Biden administration to approve the pardons, writing:
“Good. He should write a whole bunch of them for those he thinks will be targeted and just hold them until /if needed.”
Trump has been quite vocal about his criticism of Biden’s pardon for his son Hunter on tax evasion and gun charges. “Does the Pardon given by Joe to Hunter include the J-6 Hostages, who have now been imprisoned for years? Such an abuse and miscarriage of Justice,” he posted on his Truth Social platform.
