Square Enix has announced that Stormblood, considered by many as the weakest expansion of Final Fantasy 14, will be available for free to owners or new buyers of the FFXIV Starter Edition until May 8th. While this may not be the most impressive of expansions, it does offer players a chance to experience its necessary character development, particularly for the antagonist Zenos yae Galvus. Despite not having standout moments like its predecessors, Stormblood’s storyline follows the Warrior of Light uniting with the Au Ra clans to fight against Garlean imperialism.
Final Fantasy 14’s Hated DLC Is For Free Now
Though the expansion didn’t grab players the way previous ones did, Stormblood does have its merits. The dungeons may not be the best, and the characters may not be the most memorable, but it provides a much-needed respite from the emotional intensity of the other expansions. It also features the best boss fight music with “Wayward Daughter,” which sets the tone for an epic battle.
Square Enix is also running a free login promotion that ends on the same day as the Stormblood offer. This provides an excellent opportunity for lapsed players to return to the game and experience the expansion for themselves. If you’ve never played Final Fantasy XIV, this promotion presents an excellent opportunity to jump into Eorzea and experience one of the most popular MMORPGs on the market.
While Stormblood may not have been the most well-received of Final Fantasy 14’s expansions, it does have its moments. The promotion allows players to experience the game’s universe and use the free login campaign. So, whether you’re a lapsed player or a newcomer to the game, now is the perfect time to dive into Eorzea and experience everything Final Fantasy XIV offers.
