Square Enix is currently developing a whole new generation of Final Fantasy projects. Alongside the ongoing Final Fantasy 7 Remake, a new game has also been in full swing. While fans were hesitant, what was shown in the early stages was promising. Although footage and information have been sparse, the little details that have emerged are enticing to fans. As the release of Final Fantasy Stranger of Paradise was lackluster, to say the least, Square Enix is determined to continue forward with Final Fantasy XVI. Originally announced and revealed at the September 2020 PlayStation event, fans knew the release would be a few years away. Despite the PS5 making its debut later that year, Final Fantasy 16 has yet to receive a release date. Yet, in a new interview with producer Yoshida Naoki, Final Fantasy 16 is reaching the last stage of development.
Yoshida Naoki says that FF16 is already in the final stages of development, and he says the story is a very well fleshed out one.
His comment was released in the Final Fantasy 35th Anniversary Uniqlo magazine. Here’s the full translation! pic.twitter.com/X23AFqOXfJ

What Does The Final Fantasy 16 Producer Say About Development?
While the quote provided is short, it does offer good insights. Square Enix’s new collaboration with clothing line UNIQLO also provided a new look at some Final Fantasy 16 artwork. Yet, the real interest is the quote provided in a new UNIQLO magazine which provides a few details on development. Opening with the game reaching a culminating stage, development is almost complete. For the last few years, the team has progressed well for the game to be almost finished. He continues stating that their goal is to deliver a refreshing and comprehensive game with a story that invites returning players to rediscover their passion for Final Fantasy. A heartwarming statement to be sure, but until we get a closer look at what’s to come for Final Fantasy XVI, we’ll just have to wait and see.
