According to a leaked trailer, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is getting a playable demo on PlayStation 5 on February 6, 2024. The release date of Square Enix’s biggest title for 2024 is right around the corner, and it seems this trailer was intended for a later date but somehow surfaced online.
In Sony’s recent State of Play event, during which Death Stranding 2 was the headliner, Sony ended the stream by confirming that another State of Play was on the way. The second event, planned for February 6, promised to focus entirely on Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and was probably where this trailer was supposed to be released, confirming the demo. But instead, it seems Sony is the one who pulled the trigger early by mistake.
The trailer, which you can watch in its entirety below, was randomly uploaded to the “explore” section of the PlayStation Store. Now that it has made its way onto the internet, there is no point in removing it anymore.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Demo Trailer Leaked
The original Final Fantasy 7 Remake was revealed in a similar way, with a demo being shadow-dropped to create hype and interest. Square Enix likely planned on doing the same with the demo for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth but revealed it prematurely.
Today’s State of Play event will show even more FF7 Rebirth gameplay, which, according to some fans, is unnecessary. Square Enix might have revealed a bit too much of the game already, bordering on story spoilers at this point.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will be released on February 29 on the PlayStation 5. The game will remain exclusive to Sony’s console before getting a PC release in a year or two in typical Square Enix fashion.
